Farming is one of the oldest jobs around and probably one of the most difficult. Farmers have been cultivating the land and domesticating livestock for over 12,000 years in order to provide us with our food. October 12th has been selected as a day to show our appreciation for all the hard work that goes into feeding the world.
There are many ways to celebrate our farmers, from shopping at your local farmer’s market to having a go at growing your own food.
In honour of National Farmers Day we have chosen this image of a farmer in Bali taken by Mohamed Abdelkader which was submitted to our Expression Competition.
